“Joyce continues to face many daily challenges because of the condition of her hands. Simple tasks like holding a spoon, fork, or even a drinking glass are very difficult for her. Writing is also a challenge since most of her fingers have become almost fused together. She is unable to bathe or dress herself independently and cannot clean or change her own wound dressings without assistance.
